The Elon University Department of Performing Arts will perform Meredith Willson’s musical “The Music Man,” Oct. 31- Nov. 2 and Nov. 7, 9 and 10 in McCrary Theatre, located in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts on campus.
“The Music Man” is directed by Fredrick J. Rubeck and choreographed by Linda Sabo, with Kenneth Lee serving as the musical director. The play follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying musical instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize-despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef.
Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Oct. 31-Nov. 2 and Nov. 7 and 9. The performance on Nov. 10 is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tickets for the performance are $10, or free for those with valid Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased by calling the McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278-5610. The box office is open from 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
