Former presidential advisor David Gergen will interview Emmy Award winning broadcast journalist Walter Cronkite, who covered World War II for the United Press. Cronkite joined CBS News in 1950, and was anchor of the CBS Evening news from April 1962 until his retirement in 1981. In 1963, the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite became network television’s first half-hour weeknight news broadcast. In addition to his ongoing assignments as a special correspondent and host of numerous space and science programs for CBS, Cronkite hosts many public affairs and cultural programs for PBS.
