About 400 top high school students will visit the Elon campus Friday and Saturday for the annual Fellows Competition Weekend. Details…Elon received more than 900 applications for its five Fellows programs: Honors Fellows, Elon College Fellows, Jefferson Pilot Business Fellows, Journalism/Communications Fellows and Leadership Fellows.
The Fellows programs are selective, four-year programs which offer talented students enriching academic experiences and scholarships, including the following:
* special courses
* guaranteed internships and/or paid research assistantships
* faculty mentoring
* $750 grants for study abroad
* Fellows scholarships of $1,000-$6,000 annually
While on campus, the Fellows candidates will attend a seminar, write a response to the seminar and have a personal interview with a faculty or staff member.
This year’s Fellows candidates have an average SAT score of 1275 and an average high school core grade point average of 4.2. Top students in the competition will be offered Fellows positions and scholarships. In addition, the first William R. Kenan, Jr. Honors Fellow scholarship winner will be awarded. Decisions will be announced in early April.
