About 65 members of Elon’s Board of Visitors held their spring meeting April 8-9. The group, chaired by Bennett Sapp, heard a presentation on student research by Maurice Levesque, director of the SURF program, and four students. Committees chaired by board members Jim Crouch, Lummy Barnes, Ocie Murray and Hunt Ward, concentrated on development, events, student development and university relations topics. President Leo M. Lambert gave a presentation on recent events at Elon, and Provost Gerald Francis gave an update from the Law School Feasibility Committee.
The Board of Visitors initiates and conducts programs and activities for the advancement of Elon. Its members are advisers and ambassadors for Elon who provide volunteers services and a wide range of support for the university. The group meets twice a year.
