Members of the Parents Council presented Elon President Leo M. Lambert with a check for $260,975 at the council’s meeting Saturday, April 12. Harvey White of Knoxville, Tenn., campaign chairman and father of Joey White ’04, made the presentation.
These funds, from current and past members of the council, will provide more than $110,000 to the Parents Fund for annual unrestricted use by the university. The gift will also provide $150,000 to establish the Mary Ruth Scholarship, an endowed scholarship in honor of Mary Ruth, who retired in December 2002 as director of alumni and parent relations.
Anne Wright, director of parent giving, expressed her appreciation for the gift and for the work of the Parents Council. “The university is grateful to this group of parents for their generosity and for all they do for the advancement of Elon.”
