Nathan Painter, a senior from Elon, N.C., has received an $8,000 Phi Kappa Phi National Graduate Fellowship award. Fifty-two fellowships are awarded nationally each year on a competitive basis. He plans to use the fellowship in his pursuit of a medical degree.
A biology and general music major, Painter is an accomplished musician who has earned praise from the music faculty. He is also a top student in biology, where he frequently works as a tutor and teaching assistant in the laboratory.
Phi Kappa Phi is the oldest national honor society dedicated to the recognition and promotion of academic excellence in all fields of higher education. More than $460,000 is awarded to outstanding students through the society’s fellowship program each year for first-year graduate study.
