View a Total Eclipse of the Moon – May 15

On May 15th, the Moon will “turn to blood” as it passes into the Earth’s shadow. Weather permitting, the Elon University Department of Physics will host a public viewing of this total lunar eclipse. From 10 p.m. to midnight, we will be pointing the university’s telescopes at the moon and other astronomical objects.

Interested observers should gather at a telescope that will be set up at the center of Young Commons (between the Koury Center and Belk Library). From there, people will be directed to the university’s rooftop observing platform. Please call 336-278-6328 (x6328) after 9 p.m. on May 15th to learn if the weather permits us to hold this event.

For more information about viewing the eclipse, contact Anthony Crider at 336-278-6268 or acrider@elon.edu.
