Members of the senior class presented a gift to Elon of $8,321 at the annual Graduation Celebration Picnic on May 22. Details...

Senior class president Christian Brescia made the announcement to graduating seniors and their families, as well as faculty and staff, during the annual senior class picnic. A record 35 percent of the class contributed to the gift, which will provide scholarship support to a deserving freshman enrolling this fall. Each year, the graduating class makes a gift to the university as an expression of gratitude for their Elon experience.

The office of alumni and parent relations, which hosted the event, also presented door prizes to seniors. The picnic, which was forced indoors due to rain, was the first in a series of commencement weekend events. On Friday, the baccalaureate service will be held at 3 p.m. in Alumni Gym. The MBA graduation ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Whitley Auditorium, followed by Senior Showcase in McCrary Theatre at 8 p.m.

Elon’s 113th Commencement exercises are set for 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 24 Under the Oaks in the historic area in front of West Residence Hall.
