The Baird Pulitzer Prize Lecture
Three-time recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, Thomas L. Friedman became the foreign affairs columnist for The New York Times in 1995. Previously, he served as chief economic correspondent in the Washington bureau and as chief White House correspondent. “From Beirut to Jerusalem” earned the National Book Award for nonfiction in 1989. “The Lexus and the Olive Tree” won the 2000 Overseas Press Club award for best nonfiction book on foreign policy and has been published in 20 languages. His most recent book, “Longitudes & Attitudes: Exploring the World After September 11,” a New York Times bestseller, is a collection of the columns for which he won his third Pulitzer Prize in 2002 and a diary of his personal experiences and reflections during his reporting on the post-September 11 world.
