The Baltimore Cosort specializes in the popular music of the 16th through 18th centuries, as well as traditional music rooted in earlier times. The consort—Ronn McFarlane (lute), Mindy Rosenfeld (wooden flutes and pennywhistle), Mary Anne Ballard (viols and rebec), with soprano Custer LaRue—earned recognition as the Top Classical Crossover Artist from Billboard Magazine in 1993. Their concert will include traditional American folk songs collected at Elon in the 1930s by faculty member Fletcher Collins, whose extensive collection is at the Smithsonian Institution.
