Barbara Boyette, assistant director of athletics and director of academic progress, gave a presentation recently at the annual meeting of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics. The meeting was attended by more than 400 academic advisors and learning specialists who work in collegiate athletics departments.
Her presentation, titled “Chutes and Ladders: Giving Students the Ladders they need to Climb,” covered activities and resources on student success strategies, time management, study skills and motivation. Boyette also provided assessment tools and other examples of activities that can be included in classroom settings, workshops or one-on-one counseling.
Mary Brunk, Boyette’s intern during the 2002-03 year, assisted in the presentation.
