Fourteen members of the Elon University family completed the Triad Area American Heart and Stroke Walk at Country Park in Greensboro on Saturday, June 14, exceeding their financial goal of $2,000. As of Saturday afternoon, TEAM ELON posted $2,050 to assist with research for heart disease and stroke.

Members of TEAM ELON chose to participate in the walk as a University service project and to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke. Team T-Shirts, designed by Melissa Murphey, displayed names of family members and friends who survived heart disease and stroke as well as memorialized those who died as a result of heart disease and stroke. Elon’s participation resulted from an initiative by the American Heart Association to involve area colleges and universities in the walk. UNC Greensboro also sponsored a team.

TEAM ELON members received financial pledges from students, colleagues, friends and family members. The age range for TEAM ELON was from 10 years old to “seasoned” and represented a variety of areas, including academic affairs, student life, academic support, university relations and alumni.
