Jerry Tolley, director of annual giving, spoke Friday, July 25 to 36 youths who were participants in the Burlington Junior Police Academy.
Tolley, former head football coach at Elon from 1977-81, discussed the importance of goal-setting with the students.
The junior police academy is a four-week program that identifies at-risk youth in the local community and connects them with positive role models. The children also learn about personal responsibility, good citizenship and the importance of staying in school.
