David Copeland, A. J. Fletcher Professor, has published “The Function of Newspapers in Society: A Global Perspective” with Praeger Press. The book, co-edited by Shannon Martin of the University of Maine, looks at the use of newspapers by society across cultures, time and the globe.
Newspapers for this book are considered information-dispersal tools ranging from Incan quipu to the Internet. Bradley Hamm, associate dean in the School of Communications, wrote a chapter in the book on newspapers in China, Japan and Korea.
