Heidi Glaesel Frontani served as a proposal reviewer for the National Science Foundation (NSF) in Arlington, Va., July 14-17. She reviewed Social Sciences grant proposals for the Educational Materials Development (EMD) and National Dissemination (ND) tracks of NSF’s Course, Curriculum, and Laboratory Improvement (CCLI) program.
Dr. Frontani was also a participant in a NSF-sponsored workshop on Marine Science, Technology, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in Monterey, Calif., from July 27-Aug. 3. The workshop’s participants used side-scan sonar and a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to map the seafloor near the Monterey Peninsula and create habitat suitability models for biologically and commercially important finfish and invertebrates using GIS. Dr. Frontani will share what she learned with her Global Studies students this semester.
