Two events in September are supported by Project Pericles and give members of the Elon community the opportunity to support CrossRoads Sexual Assault Response and Resource Center in Burlington.
From 2 p.m.-4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 7, CrossRoads will hold its annual fundraiser, Make a Sundae, Make a Difference, at the Church of the Holy Comforter, located at 320 E. Davis St. Area potters, including students from Elon’s art department and Mike Sanford, professor of art, are donating handmade pottery bowls for the event. For $15, you receive a pottery bowl you can keep and enjoy an ice cream sundae thanks to Bi-Lo. Contact Kimberly Rippy at extension 5600 for tickets or stop by the Center for the Arts main office in room 101.
The other event is a cross-country bike journey by Christopher Eyl, graphic designer in university relations. His trip will raise funds for CrossRoads’ Children’s Advocacy Center, and is made possible through a Project Pericles service sabbatical. Eyl will begin his 2,876-mile trip in late September, traveling from California to Savannah, Ga. Visit http://www.elon.edu/ceyl/rideforcac to read his daily training log and to download a donation form.
