Carol Magee, assistant professor of art and Elon’s Woodrow Wilson Postdoctoral Fellow, will present “Sex and Safari: Sports Illustrated Swimsuits in Africa” at 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 15, in Yeager Recital Hall in the Center for the Arts on campus.
Magee will discuss the depiction of Ndebele and Maasai peoples in the 1996 and 1997 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues. She will also explore issues of race and identity and the role of photography in these publications.
Admission is free and open to the public.
