Steve DeLoach, associate professor of economics, presented a paper at the Developments in Economics and Business Education conference held September 15-16 in Edinburgh, Scotland. DeLoach co-authored the paper, “Getting the most out of electronic discussions,” with Steven Greenlaw of Mary Washington College.
Over the past several years, DeLoach and Greenlaw have researched how to use electronic discussions to teach critical thinking skills to undergraduates. Building on their previous research (recently published in the Journal of Economics Education, January 2003), this paper focuses on developing techniques to moderate these discussions most effectively.
