Paul Waldau will examine the ongoing struggle to find balance between religion and ecology during a lecture at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23 in Whitley Auditorium on the Elon University campus.
Waldau advises the International Fund for Animal Welfare and the Wild Dolphin Project. He will discuss the ecological and ethical conceptions of animals and the natural world. His lectures call upon the sciences, the humanities and the legal system to help humans recognize their connections to the earth.
Waldau is assistant clinical professor at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, where he is on the faculty of the Center for Animals and Public Policy. He also serves as vice president of the Great Ape Project-International, which protects free and captive chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans and bonobos.
