The Art Department is sponsoring a lecture by Jeffrey Thompson, a visiting art historian at Wake Forest this year. Thompson will be speaking in the Isabella Cannon Room at 6:30 pm Nov. 10 on the 1966 magazine collaboration, “Domain of the Great Bear”, in which artists Mel Bochner and Robert Smithson explored photography’s use as a “post-medium”, “anti-object” strategy that fundamentally challenged modernism, thereby altering contemporary art theory and practice.
