Huanxing Zeng to offer dance class, Oct. 16-17

Huanxing Zeng will offer a master class Thursday, Oct. 16 and Friday, Oct. 17.

Huanxing, teacher, performer and choreographer received a BFA in modern dance from the Beijing Dance Academy in China; he was a member of the first modern dance company in China, Guangdong Modern Dance Company from 1996 to 1998; and he was performed and taught internationally at many universities and professional dance companies such as Nationality University in Beijing, Shanghai Dance Academy, China Central Ballet Company, Shanghai Ballet Company, University of Hawaii, University of Illinois and National Arts University of Taiwan. His work has been commissioned by numerous, including the recent “Unveiling Ceremony of the Emblem of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games,” “45th Anniversary Ceremony of CCTV China,” “’95 International Chinese Costume Exposition” and “’95 Beijing World Women’s Conference.”

Huanxing’s choreography and teaching is a unique blend of Chinese Taichi, Martial Arts and Western traditions. His choreography and performances received enthusiastic critical praise at numerous international festivals such as Montpellier Dance Festival, Hong Kong International College Dance Festival, Asian Dance Festival in China and China Modern Dance Festival in Beijing.

He was a winner at “The 6th International Dance Competition” in Paris as a performer. His work “Leading Along” won Excellent Choreography at Moscow International Ballet Competition, “Leaning On” received recognition for Excellent Performing and Choreography at the China National Dance competition. Most recently, his choreography “Poetic Waters and Picturesque Mountains” won Golden Performing Prize in China National College Dance Competition.

Huanxing Zeng is currently serving as a faculty member in the department of choreography at Beijing Dance Academy in China.
