Ringelberg to discuss Japanese artist, Oct. 20

Kirstin Ringelberg, assistant professor of art history, will present her work in progress on Yasumasa Morimura at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20 in Yeager Recital Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Morimura is a contemporary mixed-media artist, best known for placing himself as the main character in imitations of famous Western works of art history. The focus of Ringelberg’s talk will be Morimura’s revision of a famous photograph of an execution during the Vietnam War.

The presentation is part of Ringelberg’s preparation for a formal version of her scholarship on this subject, to be presented at the College of Art Association national conference in February 2004 in Seattle.
