Coleman Barks will offer a discussion and performance as part of his presentation titled, “The Life of Rumi: A Lecture and Performance,” at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20 in McCrary Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts on the Elon University campus.
Barks is a prominent English translator of the 13th century mystic poet Jelaluddin Rumi. His work culminated in 17 volumes including the bestselling “The Soul of Rumi,” and his translations have sold over half a million copies. Barks is retired after teaching creative writing for 34 years.
Barks’ presentation is sponsored by the Liberal Arts Forum. Tickets are $12, or free with valid Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased by calling the McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278-5610. The box office is open from 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
