There is a new competition brewing between two North Carolina universities and this time, it won’t take place on a court, field, or in a stadium.
The event is Battle of the Chefs: Elon vs. Wake Forest. Executive Chefs Mirek Lysakowski from Elon and Joseph Kwarteng from Wake Forest will each have one hour to prepare a soup, appetizer, entrée and dessert using a specified ingredient for each. The dueling chefs will be judged at 7 p.m. by a six-member panel that includes administrators and students from both Wake Forest and Elon. The event will be emceed by Elon alumnus Tony Tilley, food service director at Barton College, and an extra special Elon emcee. Elon Television Services will tape the event for future broadcast.
“We are very excited to be hosting this competition between two high-caliber chefs, and we look forward to a long-running rivalry,” says Jeff Gazda, resident district manager for Elon Dining Services.
