Hello, fellow Elon students! I’m trying to get individuals to e-mail their senators about the McCain-Lieberman Climate Stewardship Act. The McCain-Lieberman Climate Stewardship Act is a bipartisan effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to help solve the global warming problem. In the United States, large amounts of greenhouse gases are released from factories, automobiles, power plants and oil refineries. These greenhouse gasses are a major cause of global warming. On October 30, 2003, the Senate voted down the McCain-Lieberman Climate Stewardship Act 55-43. However, Senators McCain and Lieberman promised that the bill will be brought before the Senate in the future. Would you please e-mail your senators about how they voted on the McCain-Lieberman Act by clicking this link: http://www.saveourenvironment.org/action/index.asp?item=20&step=2
The process is very easy. Once you click on this link, you come to the Save Our Environment website. Near the middle of the page, there is a link in bold crimson print that says “See how your senators voted and send a message!” Click this link and you will come to a web page that displays how every senator voted. Click whichever link pertains to how your senators voted, and you will come back to the original web page. You can then scroll down and see an e-mail message already filled out. You can send the message provided to your senator or you can change the message to reflect how you feel about global warming. You will also need to fill out some contact information that only takes a minute. Please feel free to pass this email on to others. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Ryan Draper
