The Brazilian Guitar Quartet, known in their native country as “the dream team,” will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 10 in McCrary Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts on the Elon University campus.
Everton Gloeden, Tadeu do Amaral, Paulo Porto Alegre and Paulo Martelli comprise the BGQ and are widely regarded as Brazil’s top guitarists. They will be featured artists at the inaugural World Guitar Congress in 2004.
The BGQ’s début CD, “Essência do Brasil,” was chosen for Audiophile Audition’s “Best Recordings of 1999” list, and “Bach’s Orchestral Suites” made the 2000 list. Their latest CD, “Encantamento,” features works by seven Brazilian composers.
Admission is $12 or free for those with valid Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased by calling the McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278-5610. The box office is open from 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
