Richard Mohr, professor of philosophy at the University of Illinois-Urbana and a frequent contributor to the gay press, will address the arguments for gay civil rights during a speech at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 3 in Whitley Auditorium on the Elon University campus. Sponsored by the Liberal Arts Forum, the speech is free and open to the public.
Mohr will confront the charge that gay civil rights are objectionable special rights and examine equality in America from a gay viewpoint. He has written numerous several books on the subject, including “A More Perfect Union: Why Straight America Must Stand Up For Gay Rights,” and has written for national publications and newspapers such as The Chronicle of Higher Education, the Chicago Tribune and the Boston Globe.
