Meet UNCG’s Battle of the Chefs culinary team

Jason U. Alison, Executive Chef

A native of New Orleans, where he received his culinary degree, Jason has been with UNCG Dining Services for five and a half years. Currently the University’s Executive Chef, Jason’s past experience includes chef for the Carolina Panther’s, Sous Chef with Hyatt Hotel’s, and has had two guest appearances on WBTV’s: Cooking with Barbara McKay. In his free time, Jason operates his Ice Carving business, and takes care of his 15-month-old son.

Eric Aguilar, Catering Chef

A graduate from the French Culinary Institute, Eric has worked for UNCG Dining since 2000. Originally from Staten Island, New York, Eric started his culinary career working for Tribeca Caterers. Working in a college environment is his favorite thing at UNCG. His hobbies include paintball and following New York Rangers hockey. Eric’s favorite type of cooking is Italian and Asian.

Scott Sandberg, Catering Chef

Scott has been working with Dining Services for two and a half years. He loves UNCG for the variety of food ranging from up-scale catering to the self-service of the Caf. When Scott is not at work, he likes playing golf and watching sports on TV. In addition, Scott has two daughters whom he loves to cook for and spend time with.

Arica Maya Gibson, Pastry Chef

Born in Kathmandu, Nepal, Arica has been working as a chef since 1989. Since then, she has worked for various places including the Ventana Canyon Resort. Currently residing in Greensboro, Arica has worked for UNCG Dining Services since October 2001. Her hobbies include mountain biking, traveling, and other outdoor activities.
