The Elon group manned phone banks in the main UNC-TV studio in Research Triangle Park, appearing many times during the live pledge breaks throughout the evening hours.
Several members of the group were winners of door prizes from the UNC-TV staff, including the award-winning coffee table book, “Carolina Preserves” by North Carolina artist William Mangum.
The list of Elon volunteers included students Barbara Goodrich, Elizabeth Stanton, Julie Smith, Kensie Hamilton, Kristina Foster, Lindsay Porter, Megan Clendaniel, Nicholas Smith, Tara Vickers, William Culp, Marc DeRoberts and Candra Lazarro.
Faculty and staff volunteers were John Guiniven, Jennifer Smith, Loura Burnette, Randall Bowman, Shannon Tennant, Rich D’Amato, David Hibbard, Lynne Bisko and Bill Brown.
During the broadcast, Shannon Vickery, senior correspondent and managing editor for the North Carolina NOW program, interviewed Hibbard twice about Elon’s recent national recognition, the surge in admissions applications and plans for the new Koury Business Center on campus.
