Elon University women’s track and field athlete Kim Adams was recently honored with a NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women’s Enhancement Scholarship for Careers in Athletics. The NCAA awards 13 scholarships valued at $6,000 to ethnic minorities and 13 scholarships to women college graduates who will be entering their initial year of postgraduate work.
To qualify for the scholarship, an applicant must be going to graduate school for sports administration or a related program that will lead to a career in intercollegiate athletics, such as an administrator, coach or trainer.
A senior from South Boston, Va., Adams is a psychology major with a 3.09 cumulative grade point average. She competes on the indoor track team as well as the outdoor track and field squad. She holds the school record for the high jump in indoor with a height of 1.58 meters. In outdoor competition, she holds the school record for the 400 meter with a time of 62.68 as well as the high jump with a height of 1.73 meters.
