Professor chosen for Fulbright Professorship in South Korea

Byung Lee, associate professor of journalism at Elon University, will serve as a Fulbright Professor in his native South Korea for the 2004-05 academic year.

Lee will teach Web communications courses at Hankook University of Foreign Studies in Seoul and conduct research during the fall and spring semesters. Lee had been scheduled to serve as a Fulbright Professor in Singapore in 2002-03, but his appointment was deferred due to the SARS epidemic.

Lee has been a member of the Elon faculty since 1996. He teaches courses on editing and layout, polling, research and presentation, and Web publishing and design. He has published numerous articles in scholarly journals and publications and conducted workshops on Web publication, graphics and design.

The Fulbright program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. More than 250,000 American and foreign university students, K-12 teachers and university faculty and professionals have participated in one of several Fulbright exchange programs.

Recipients of Fulbright awards, both U.S. and foreign, are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievements and because they have demonstrated extraordinary leadership potential in their fields.
