More than 65,000 students from 170 campuses across the nation rallied together March 31. During Habitat for Humanity’s third annual day of student advocacy, HabiFest participants staged “shack-a-thons,” political action days, housing symposiums and candlelight vigils.
Elon University’s Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is joined this national movement for the first time. Events were planned throughout the day to raise awareness about poverty and its causes, including a noon prayer vigil and guest speakers from Elon Habitat, Alamance Habitat and Habitat for Humanity’s international headquarters. Local Habitat homeowners will spoke during a program at 7:30 p.m.
Habitat for Humanity International is a Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. Founded by Millard Fuller and his wife, Linda, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliates in more than 92 nations have built and sold more than 150,000 homes.
