Edward McDonough, deputy chief medical examiner for the state of Connecticut, will discuss the challenges of pathology work in the wake of large scale disasters, such as the September 11 terrorist attacks, at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 22. His presentation will be held in room 011 of the McEwen communications building on the Elon University campus.
McDonough has been performing medical death investigations since 1982, and joined the Connecticut medical examiner’s office in 1986. He also serves as coroner’s pathologist for Putnam County, N.Y., and is a consultant to attorneys trying criminal and civil cases.
A forensic pathology professor at the University of New Haven and Quinnipiac University, McDonough also teaches medical students and pathology residents from medical schools at Yale University and the University of Connecticut.
McDonough serves on the board of directors of Life Choice Donor Service, a tissue and organ transplant organization, and is the past director of the Connecticut Eye Bank laboratory.
