Geoff Pilkington, an Elon senior from St. Louis, donated a copy of his grandfather’s biography to Belk Library Friday, April 16.
Titled “The Memoirs of Bing Devine,” the book recounts Devine’s experiences in professional sports as a team president and general manager.
Devine served as president of the New York Mets and the St. Louis Cardinals football team. He also spent part of his career as general manager of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, engineering the trade that brought legendary hitter and base stealer Lou Brock to St. Louis.
The book, written with assistance from St. Louis Post-Dispatch sportswriter Tom Wheatley, was released in late March.
