- Geneva Weatherford
After the always-popular video presentation, President Leo M. Lambert presented the annual staff member of the year awards. Switchboard operator Dottie Barr was honored as the office staff member of the year, while James Stovall, supervisor of the key shop and carpentry shop, was named physical plant staff member of the year.
Jim Murphy, director of instructional design and development, was named administrative staff member of the year. Because he was unable to attend staff day, Murphy was surprised with the award when he returned to work June 1. President Lambert made the presentation during a morning meeting of the instructional and campus technologies staff.
During staff day activities, Deputy Barney Fife paid a visit from Mayberry and drew plenty of laughs as he poked fun at himself and a few “lucky” Elon staff members! Afterwards, staff members divided into teams for a campus-wide scavenger hunt. First prize for the winning team was two extra days of vacation.
