Steve DeLoach, associate professor of economics, has written a paper which has been accepted for publication in Contemporary Economic Policy magazine.
Titled “Do electronic discussions create critical-thinking spillovers?”, DeLoach wrote the article with Steven Greenlaw of Mary Washington College. The article is based on their research, an empirical assessment of the effectiveness of using Blackboard discussions in upper level economics courses. The Blackboard system was used mainly to teach students to think critically about contemporary debates in the field of macroeconomics.
The paper is a follow-up to DeLoach’s original work on the use of Blackboard. The Love School of Business provided funding for the research through a summer grant.
