Construction work on Haggard Avenue, the main east-west thoroughfare through campus, has been completed. The new roadway features four crosswalks designed to increase pedestrian safety. Details...
The pedestrian safety construction project will slow traffic and provide pedestrians with clearly defined areas to cross the busy roadway.
The crosswalks are made of brick and granite cobblestones. Two of the crosswalks are raised four inches to provide traffic calming, which means the existing 25 mph speed limit is the most comfortable speed through campus. The four Haggard Avenue crosswalks are at the following locations:
- Crosswalk between Sloan Residence Hall and the west side of Koury Center
- Crosswalk between Carlton Building and the east side of Koury Center
- Crosswalk between Powell Building and Belk Library
- Crosswalk at O’Kelly Avenue near the McMichael Science Center.
