Greensboro Symphony presents “Mancini Magic”

McCrary Theatre

3:00 p.m.

The Symphony’s new Principal POPS Conductor Michael Berkowitz pays special tribute to Henry Mancini, one of the greatest composers of television and show music of all time. Winner of 20 Grammy Awards and four Academy Awards, Mancini hired Berkowitz as a drummer at age 19 and persuaded him to move to Los Angeles, where he became one of the city’s busiest studio musicians, working with stars like Gloria Estefan, Linda Ronstadt and Ringo Starr. “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s became a top 40 hit, won Mancini an Oscar in 1961, and has been recorded by more than 1,000 musical acts. Joining Berkowitz will be drummer Jack Gilfoy and trumpeter Cecil Welch, two Mancini regulars.

Admission by ticket only: $40.00 Orchestra, $25.00 Balcony, $5.00 students or Elon ID. Limited seating for those with an Elon ID (RS)*
