Vocalist Julie Celona-VanGorden and pianist Laura Moore will perform at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13 in Whitley Auditorium on the Elon University campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
The show will feature a program of vocal music, including Mozart’s “Exultate Jubilate,” works by Schubert and Debussy and Bernstein’s song cycle, “I Hate Music!”
Celona-VanGorden received a master’s degree in vocal performance from UNC-Greensboro. She has starred in roles such as Anna Gomez in “The Consul,” Venus in “Orpheus in the Underworld” and Anne Bronte in the world premiere “How Clear She Shines” by Linda Lister. She is on the faculty at the Music Academy of North Carolina where she teaches private voice lessons.
Moore is enrolled in the doctoral program in choral conducting at UNC-Greensboro. She received her master’s degree in piano performance from the Peabody Conservatory. She is active as an accompanist at UNCG and Guilford College. She serves as music director at Christ Presbyterian Church in High Point and plans to serve as music director for the Community Theatre of Greensboro’s production of “Wizard of Oz” in November.
