Thirteen articles written by students in the School of Communications were featured in a two-page spread in the Sunday, Oct. 3 edition of the Burlington Times-News. The students’ articles were part of a class project for JCM 300, “Reporting for the Public Good,” taught by Janna Anderson, assistant professor of communications.
The articles preview an Oct. 8 forum which will be hosted by the Elon University Center for Environmental Studies titled “Roadmap to the Future: Tomorrow by Design.” The articles examined a wide variety of topics that will be discussed during the forum and their relevance to the local community, including organic farming, alternative fuel vehicles, recycling and long-term environmental planning.
Through an arrangement with the Times-News, these students will also be filing reports on election night in November and will produce business features that will be run in the special Times-News Progress edition in February.
