Wallace served as chief White House correspondent for NBC News from 1982-89, worked at ABC News as senior correspondent for “Primetime” and other news shows from 1989-2003, and became anchor of “FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace” last year. He has won every major broadcast news award for his reporting, including three Emmy Awards.
Wallace is visiting campus with his mother, Kappy Leonard, and Larry and Dee D’Angelo, former chairs of the Elon Parents Council who are members-elect of the Board of Visitors. The D’Angelos have established The D’Angelo Family Scholarship in honor of the late Bill Leonard, Chris Wallace’s stepfather and former president of CBS News for many years. The scholarship will be awarded to an upperclassman in the School of Communications, majoring in broadcast communications. It will be awarded for the first time during a ceremony recognizing the D’Angelos at 11:30 a.m., Monday in the School of Communications TV studio.
