The first ever Phoenix Phind was held this past weekend, from 4 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday. The 48-hour scavenger hunt was a huge success and included 48 teams comprised of 5-10 members each.
Teams received a list of 126 items they either had to bring in or get a photograph of. Each item was assigned a point value and the judges gave bonus points for creativity. The list included items such as: a photograph of Dr. Jackson; a furbee; picture of the group in a Hummer; group member riding a donkey; canned goods (which were turned into the canned food drive); MLB playoff ticket stub; and a picture of a Wal-Mart employee shaking hands with a K-Mart employee.
The prizes were $250 for third, $450 for second, and a grand prize of $650 to the winning team! The winners were announced Sunday night at a pizza party in the DC Commons for everyone who participated in all the phun! The first 100 to sign up also received free Phind shirts! The event was sponsored by Resident Student Association and the Danieley Center Area Council.
