Two new members have been elected to the Elon University Board of Trustees. Robert E. Long, Jr., Greensboro, N.C., will complete an unexpired term on the board, and Adam O’Dell, a 2004 Elon graduate, will serve a two-year term as a youth trustee.
Long was a founder and partner of Long Miller & Associates in Greensboro, which was purchased by Clark Consulting, Inc. in 2002. Now associated with Granville Capital, Inc., a Greensboro investment firm, Long serves on the boards of Aeroglide Corporation and Clark Consulting, Inc. He also serves on the boards of the Bryan Foundation, the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro and the United Way of Greater Greensboro, and was a key figure and major contributor in the recent drive to raise funds for the establishment of the Elon University School of Law.
Long has bachelor’s degrees in economics and business administration from North Carolina State University. Long and his wife, Kathryn, have two children, Katie,who is an artist in Charleston, and Robert, a junior at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
O’Dell, who graduated magna cum laude from Elon with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry, is currently a student at West Virginia University School of Medicine. As an Elon undergraduate he was both an Honor and a Science Fellow and a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies. O’Dell conducted research projects in biology, botany, and zoology and presented at Elon’s Student Undergraduate Research Forum.
