Anne Bolin, professor of anthropology, presented her research as an invited speaker recently in Taiwan.
Bolin discussed “Genderscapes: Panoramas, Paradigms and Possibilities” at the Institute of Ethnology at Academia Sinica in Taipei on Nov. 29. Founded in 1928, Academia Sinica is the most prominent academic institution in the Republic of China. It enjoys independence and autonomy to form its own research objectives, which include work in the sciences and humanities. In recent years, under the leadership of President Yuan T. Lee, Academia Sinica has been transformed into a modern research institution, with 25 research institutes headed by world scholars.
Bolin also presented her paper titled “Testy and Domesticated Bodies: Herstories of Defiance and Compliance” at the International Super Slim Conference on Sexual Politics on Nov. 27 in Chungli, Taiwan.
She also delivered a paper titled “Border Crossings” to faculty and students in the English department at National Central University in Chungli on Nov. 27.
