A series of events during Winter Term will give members of the university community opportunities to respond to the recent tsunami disaster in Asia. Follow this link for a listing of events, which begin Monday, Jan. 10...
The Elon University tsunami disaster response will allow University members to respond on many levels-with their heart, mind and soul. The tsunami response programming for Winter Term will be centered in the Global Village located in McKinnon Hall in the Moseley Center.
The response to the tsunami is well placed in the Winter Term 2005 theme, “Transformation and Choice in a Global Era.” Winter Term curriculum will provide students the opportunity to consider and reflect upon this wide-reaching disaster through curricular and co-curricular activities.

Fundraising/Relief Efforts
On-Going
A group of interested students will meet on Jan. 5 to discuss relief efforts for the tsunami victims. Per the requests and advice of the relief agencies, we will collect monetary donations and will submit a University check to the two designated agencies. The efforts will be concentrated in raising funds for more sustainable relief efforts offered by Habitat for Humanity International and Heifer International.
Ideas proposed thus far are:
- Offering plates at prayer service on Monday, Jan. 10
- Coin jars offered throughout the term and at the Global Village
- Fundraising activity at the men’s and women’s basketball games on Jan. 22.
