As everyone knows, this month we will be celebrating the birthday of one of the most influential people in American history. Martin Luther King Jr. touched the lives of everyone around him and those that have come after. His sacrifice changed our culture for the better and now this is the time where people honor his life. Over the past few years there has been a movement to construct a monument in his name. If successful, MLK will be the only non-president to have a monument in Washington D.C.’s President’s Square. Still, a lot of work is to be done.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc has taken the lead in raising money for this important purpose, and the Sigma Delta chapter would now like to extend the opportunity to the Elon community to help. We are asking for a simple donation of $10 from your organization to help this cause. We will be collecting money through Jan. 17. If you cannot make this gift and would like to give whatever you can, we fully appreciate that. Please help us as we work to build a monument for a man who is more than deserving.
If you have any questions, please contact me by email or phone, 336-380-5948, Rgarcia2@elon.edu. You can also contact the chapter secretary, Damon Ogburn, by phone or email as well.
