President Lambert wins top Triad leadership awards

President Leo M. Lambert has received the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce’s highest honor, and has also been named one of the 50 “most influential” people in the Triad by the Triad Business Journal.

President Lambert and Jim Melvin, president of the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation, are recipients of the Thomas Z. Osborne Distinguished Citizen Award, the highest honor of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce.

The two were recognized at the Chamber’s 127th annual dinner on Jan. 22. This is the first time the Chamber has awarded the Osborne honor to two people in the same year. The award recognizes Lambert and Melvin for their work to establish the Elon University School of Law in downtown Greensboro.

The Triad Business Journal has named President Lambert one of the 50 “most influential people” in the Triad. The list was published in a special section of the newspaper on Jan. 21. According to the Triad Business Journal, “Lambert is creating a law school in downtown Greensboro while also building Elon’s academic reputation.”

A profile on Lambert detailed progress on launching the law school, noted the construction under way on the new Ernest A. Koury Sr. Business Center, and talked about enrollment growth and plans to manage success.
