Shearer named to Olympic Sports committee

Faith Shearer, associate athletics director and senior woman administrator, has been named to the Olympic Sports Liasion Committee. Her term will begin in September 2005 and run through September of 2009. The purpose of the Olympic Sports Liaison Committee is to facilitate communication and understanding between the NCAA, the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and other national governing bodies. The Olympic Sports Liaison Committee assists the USOC and national governing bodies with the development of elite athletes, incorporating the NCAA’s commitment to education and development of all student-athletes.

The Olympic Sports Liaison Committee gives the USOC and national governing bodies a voice in the NCAA process and makes recommendations to the NCAA membership. The Olympic Sports Liaison Committee provide education to the USOC, national governing bodies and student-athletes regarding NCAA rules and regulations as they apply to world-class athletes. The committee is comprised of 14 members, including one from each NCAA division.
