Linda Tillery and The Cultural Heritage Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15 in McCrary Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts on the Elon University campus.
Tillery has dedicated much of her artistic life to the research, teaching and performance of historic African-American oral spirituals, work songs and field hollers. The Cultural Heritage Choir is a Grammy-nominated, percussion driven vocal ensemble that has perpetuated Tillery’s mission to preserve Black American music from slave songs to soul, while exploring the music’s West African roots.
Tickets for the performance are $12 or free with Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased at the McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278-5610. The box office is open from 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
The performance is sponsored by the Office of Cultural Programs, the Gospel Choir, and Diverse Students of Science.
