Elon University’s jazz festival for middle school and high school students will conclude with a concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 24 in McCrary Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts on campus. This event is free and open to the public.
Eleven visiting jazz ensembles from schools as far away as Elizabeth City, N.C., will play on Wednesday, Feb. 23. They will learn from visiting clinicians Jae Sinnett, a veteran jazz drummer, and top jazz educator Ed Kiefer during master classes on Feb. 24.
The Feb. 24 concert is directed by Elon’s Artist-in-Residence, Jon Metzger, and features performances by the All-Festival Big Band. The All-Festival band includes outstanding soloists from each middle- and high school ensemble who will join Sinnett, Kiefer, Metzger and the Elon University Jazz Ensemble for a final performance.
